ranks countries on their e-commerce and information technology
standards.
Bermuda was ranked for the first time this year and came 20th,
wedged between France and, somewhat surprisingly, Japan, with a
score of 7.81 out of ten. [more...]

Mid Ocean Article #1
Mid Ocean Article #2
Welcome to the Ewan
Sampson Scholarship Site
Bermuda
has an exceptional young role model, the late Ewan
Sampson, and an urgent need to make known to his peers,
the field of opportunity that he had identified and chosen for
himself - 'Information Technology', otherwise known as 'IT', which
also includes telecommunications and computer sciences.
IT
is becoming Bermuda's third major industry and is the young person's
industry. Why? Because the IT industry is ever-growing and it
offers many and varied career opportunities to Bermuda's young
people.
In memory of Ewan, this site is dedicated to bringing the awareness
of IT to young people of Bermuda like Ewan, so that they will
not, in a few years, find themselves left out of the attractive
career opportunities that IT has to offer them.
There are many different skill areas in IT - from hardware to
software; from controlling information to actually using the information
itself; from applying security to training others. Today, almost
every area of business has a basis in IT.
Training and experience in IT equips young people for careers
in IT. But it does not stop there... it is the foundation qualification
nowadays for many senior non-IT jobs - it is your passport to
success! Because of this, in honor of Ewan's name and his goals,
the Ewan Sampson Scholarship Trust both promotes IT and provides
annually a three-year scholarship for a student who is interested in pursuing
IT as a career. You'll find that this site also provides you with
information to get you started on your road to pursuing IT
Opportunity knocks...Open the door!!
